Qais Hussain, deputy minister of archeology and tourism, told the daily Al-Sumaria News said the government has a plan to the site of the tomb of the Prophet Jonah after retake Mosul from the hands of ISIS.
"Currently, there are committees that work to minimize the damage caused to the historic sites," said Hussain.

Hussain's comments came after a news spread that ISIS began leveling
the tomb of Jonah and the region began to turn it into a playground.
ISIS even reportedly been "invited" some companies to work on the project.
The location of the tomb is located in the northern region controlled by ISIS Mosul since June last year.
So far, government forces backed Shiite armed militias has not recaptured the town which became the main base in Iraq ISIS.
Last week, a military official said the operation to retake Mosul has begun.
However, until now, no official news emerged related to the results of the military operations.
